KUALA LUMPUR 19 March - The Government is willing to meet with and brief the opposition with regard missing MAS flight MH370 if there is a request to do so.
Speaking to reporters after a closed door meeting with Barisan Nasional MPs at a hotel near KL Sentral late Tuesday night, Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said that Government intends to be transparent with all parties concerned.
“The BN backbenchers requested this briefing. If the opposition want something similar with them, request it. We are transparent to the world,” he said.
Hishammuddin, who is also Defence Minister, went on to say that the MH370 incident could “change the history of aviation”.
“I hope we can find (MH370) soon but that does not mean it is going to end there. What we are going through might change the history of aviation. I have been hearing that from experts from around the world,” he said.
Tuesday night’s meeting with BN parliamentarians, which started at around 8.30pm and ended at midnight, was a briefing of the chronology of events from MH370’s disappearance till now, according to an MP’s special officer who declined to be named.
“Nothing new, just a recap,” the officer told a daily mail, The Star.
